Permission to slow down
January often kicks off with pressure: plan faster, go harder, get ahead.
But this year, I’ve noticed something different.
Clients, friends, and even people I follow are pausing instead.
I felt it myself. I was lucky to spend a few days off the grid, visiting family in New Zealand, where my brother had arranged a multi-day sailing trip.
At first, I felt the pressure: I should be posting. I should be planning.
But the quiet created by the fresh air and lack of internet reminded me:
It’s ok. I can take my time.
There’s a whole year ahead.
In that space, something shifted.
The urgency got quieter. I fully relaxed.
A different thought came through, one that simply asked:
What really matters right now?
Sometimes, slowing down is the smartest kind of momentum.
