24 Nov Gratitude, perspective and Thanksgiving

Around this time of year, I always find myself thinking about perspective; how much it shapes the way we experience everything, including the holidays.
Recently, I was working on a Thanksgiving post and something about the image just looked off. The words sat horizontally, but the threads in the photo ran on a diagonal. That mismatch stuck with me. It reminded me how easily things can feel out of place depending on how you look at them.
Which feels fitting, really. Because Thanksgiving, like so much in life, looks different depending on your perspective.
Just last week, a client told me how much she loves Thanksgiving.
No pressure, no gifts; just quiet time with family. It’s her favorite holiday. 🧡
Another time, I wished someone a Happy Thanksgiving, and he replied,
“I don’t celebrate it.” For some, there are historical reasons that don’t feel worth honoring.
As an Aussie, I didn’t grow up with it either.
I still remember my first Thanksgiving, me and two other expats, fresh off the boat, at a table of mostly strangers.
“Oh, we hold hands and say what we’re thankful for?”
Back then, it was all new. And a little uncomfortable.
But whatever our backgrounds or beliefs, one thing feels universal:
Gratitude and kindness never go out of style. ✨
So however, and with whomever, you spend the day, I’m wishing you all good things.
And thank you for all you contribute to the world.
Wishing you a meaningful Thanksgiving.
With gratitude.
