What are you stepping over?

What are you stepping over? Paying attention to the details and those quiet nudges.

Ever realize later that something small was trying to get your attention—but you didn’t quite see it at the time?

It’s a pretty human thing to either brush off quiet nudges… or simply not look closely enough at the details.

I was reminded of it recently.

A while back, I donated a car to charity.
Later, I got a tax form and a cover letter in the mail.
Skimmed it (maybe). Filed it. Moved on.

Fast-forward to tax prep season, and I found out I needed to send in a W9—or lose most of the deduction.

Cue stress.
Emails. Voicemails. No replies.

Totally avoidable—if I’d just paid closer attention to that letter.

But this isn’t just a tax story.
It’s a life story.

  • That gut feeling you brushed off

  • That weird tension in a relationship

  • That health thing you said you’d check out later

We think we don’t have time.
Or that it’s probably nothing.
Until it’s something.

A big part of financial planning—and life—is just learning to notice.
To slow down.
To pay attention to the little things that are quietly trying to speak up.

What’s one thing you’ve been stepping over that might need a closer look?
