Why a Money Meeting?

Ever open your bank account, take a deep breath, and immediately want to close the tab? 😬

You’re not alone. Most women I work with don’t feel “bad with money”. They’re not. But they may feel disconnected from it, like their finances exist in a part of their life they avoid or ignore. Tucked away in a corner until something urgent comes along.

Not because they don’t care, but because money is often tangled up in stress, guilt, or simply overwhelm—the busyness of life.

That’s where something called a money meeting comes in. 💡

So, what’s a money meeting—really?

It’s a short, simple check-in with your finances.

Not a big overhaul. Not a budget bootcamp. Just space to notice: What’s working? What’s off? What needs your attention?

Think of it like a coffee date with your money ☕ —no pressure, no judgment, just time to connect and chat about what’s going on. You can do it alone, with a partner, or with a few trusted friends.

There’s no one right way. What matters is that you show up.

And here’s what I’ve learned from doing this myself:

Years ago, I didn’t call it a “money meeting.” I just knew I needed to keep an eye on things. So I checked in—often.

At first, it was just something I had to do. But over time, those check-ins started to feel different.

Quieter. Calmer. 🧘‍♀️

Eventually, they became something I looked forward to. A moment of stillness; time to take a breath where I could see where I stood and what I needed. The stress loosened. The tension faded. And in its place, a little clarity – and yes, peace.

What do you actually do in a money meeting?

It’s simple. Here’s a rhythm you can try:

  • Take a breath

  • Check in with how money has felt lately

  • Glance at what came in and what went out

  • Revisit a goal—not to judge, but to notice

  • Set one small intention for the week ahead

This isn’t a checklist. It’s a relationship. And like any relationship, it needs attention to grow.

Why this matters (especially for women)

A lot of us were taught to either obsess over money or ignore it completely.

We weren’t shown how to have a normal, steady, and connected relationship with it.

Money meetings shift that. They help bring money into your everyday life—without dread, shame, or spreadsheet overload.

So what might shift for you?

With regular check-ins, you might feel:

  • Less tension when you open your accounts

  • More confidence in day-to-day decisions 💪

  • A growing sense of calm about your money

You don’t need to get everything “right.” Just start showing up. And see what changes from there.

If your relationship with money feels rocky, try a simple meeting. No perfect plan. Just a little attention and a lot of kindness ❤️
